9-4-2011 Dash's First Birthday Party!

We had a grand family party to celebrate Dash's first birthday.

Sadie particularly enjoyed it because, for the most part, she was actually in the center of all the attention.
I'll see your balloon Uncle Brian and raise you one bird pillow.

Sadie in the middle of the family.
(And Uncle Brian's friend Eric who made a cameo appearance.)

This is Dash's Birthday fruit cookie cake.
He loves his toy school bus, so Mommy thought this would be fun.

Aunt Becky made him this shirt (get it?) Dash - L
Dash liked talking to grandma through the window.
You mean I have to remove my pacifier to blow out the candle?

Sadie looks like she is ready to pounce.

Dash loved playing with his new ball.

He also liked the new toys and was a little upset when it didn't come fully assembled like the pictures on the box.

He carefully took off the paper - while Sadie was ripping through the other presents, helping him.
It was a little chaotic and difficult to remember what was from whom (so if we messed up a thank you - sorry.)

Dash thought that the presents were so pretty that they probably tasted good too.  Here he is eating the paper.  He didn't just do this one time and learn that it tasted bad - he kept eating the paper.

Jill came over to make some sugar cookies for her class to teach them geometric shapes.

We also made some fun other shapes for the kids and some inappropriate shapes for Daddy and Paw Paw.

8-31-2011 Happy Birthday Dash!

Since he is one now, we figure Dash ought to start earning his keep.  He can start with sweeping underneath his high chair.

Here he is about to go headfirst down the step.

Mommy didn't have a cake for his birthday, but she did have cookies and ice cream.
(The cake is for the party later this weekend.)

This was such a good idea!

Senor Dahiell thoroughly enjoyed his special treat.

8-30-2011 Sadie's first day of school

Sadie started Preschool today!

She is this tall at 3.75 years old.

Here she is checking herself out before we leave.
She is starting to get annoyed with having her picture taken.
(Unfortunately, many of the pictures didn't turn out great because of the darkness of the house.)

Finally a smile - well sort of
Sadie's idea of what a smile looks like.
After school I was able to get a few pictures.
Here she is with Lillie, our next door neighbor.

8-25-2011 Girls' Day Out

Grandma watched Dash so Mommy could have a girls' day.
We packed a lunch and went for a tea party.

We had a lovely tea party next to this waterfall.

Then we took a walk and went exploring.

Sadie tried to roll down a hill, but it wasn't quite steep enough.

We had a wonderful day.

8-20-2011 Marysville Balloon Festival

Grandma and Paw Paw invited us to meet them at the balloon festival in Marysville.
We had a great time and will definitely mark our calendars to remember this next year.
Besides the balloons, they had fair food at reasonable prices (unheard of, right?), cheap parking, live bands and characters walking around.

It rained on the way there and on the way home - but the rain held off the entire time we were there.

This is such a great look of surprise and joy!

Sadie found that if she talked to Paw Paw sweetly, he would let her stand on his legs.

Dash is practicing the "toddler squat" - look no hands.
He insisted on crawling on the pavement.
(He does it so that his knees don't scrape the ground somehow.)

Here are the balloons starting to inflate.

Off they go!

The wind was very strong - so they disappeared pretty fast.

Grandma takes good pictures with Dasher - he must be her lucky picture charm.

Here is Grandma in front to the Darth Vader Balloon.
(They never actually got this one off the ground.)

Oh yeah, they had skydivers too.
(And helicopter rides if you had the dough.)

Crazy Sadie

Coy Sadie

Sadie liked the music and danced with Paw Paw.

Dash is waving Hi!  (Still not saying anything yet)

Mommy loves this one.
(You can almost hear his laugh through the picture)

Mommy, I hear music.
We eventually moved over to the band and Sadie made some friends to run around and dance with.

Once it got dark, all the balloons came back - it was so cool!
