3-25-11 Chicago Art Institute

Adam and I met our friends Josh and Mara Halverson in Chicago.  It was the only thing interesting that is approximately halfway between Minnesota and Ohio.  Both families dumped the children off on grandparents.  We had a wonderful time, even though it was pretty chilly.

These pictures were taken at Millenium Park.
Later we went to lunch and the cafe and had the most delicious (and fancy) cheeseburgers that we have had in a very long time.

We had very grand plans, but as we started to sightsee, we ended up taking much longer than expected.  We spent half a day at the Art Institute.  We saw real Monets (which are much prettier than posters.)

Adam as Van Gogh

Pointilism.  We had no idea this picture was so big in real life.

FLWright stained glass

Grandma Duffy has a similar sculpture (replica) in her living room.

Ancient statues

Can you read between the lions?

I loved the mid century stuff.

Do you see the arm?  Mr. Josh was completing the statue.

The diner.

Turner Gothic.

Halverson Gothic.

3-23-11 Going out like a lamb?

We were so excited last week when it was warm.  We even broke out the short-sleeve shirts!
Apparantly, we spoke too soon.

Aunt Jill came to visit us, and she made it right before the hail came.

Look at how big those ice balls are!

3-17-2011 Finally, a nice day. Happy St. Patrick's day at the Zoo.

Both Sadie and Dash had cute little St. Patrick's Day outfits on, but by the time we went to the zoo in the afternoon, they had been spilled on or spit-up on.

Our favorite zoo attraction - the playground - was closed, so we visited the kangaroos close by.
Sadie took this picture of the lounging Roo.

We also went and saw the Manatee and she kissed the statue.

Dash rode in the stroller - without his carseat!  What a big boy.

Sadie really liked this lizard at the reptile house.

Dash tends to go for the open-mouth kiss lately.  He is always super hungry and my theory is he is trying to eat your face.

3-12-11 Visit to the Duffy's

A great picture of both kids - it only took 6 months.

Sadie has been practicing wirting her letters.  She was very excited to work on this book that Grandma got her.

Sadie is also reading a little bit; she loves Dick and Jane and Hop on Pop.

Paw Paw helped Sadie with her new workbook.

3-6-2011 Visit to gg's and PawPaw's

Dash scooted around and played on gg's floor.

Daddy fell asleep - the norm for gg's house.

Dash really loved riding the horsey.

You should hear the aggressive sounds that accompany the nuk chewing.

3-5-11 The Bouncy Seat

Mommy was actually dreading this toy.  She was very relieved when Sadie didn't really take to the Sassie Jump Seat.  I mean how can I be 100% sure that the grabber (I think that is the technical term) won't slip off the door frame.

Well,  Dash wasn't exactly a pro at the bouncing aspect.  But he didn't just hang and spin around like Sadie.  He smiled for a bit and then fell asleep.
